We
Can Make a Difference
While there is no doubt that The Dog is one stylish party
animal, he is also a dog with a heart of gold...
Since
the inception of the Hair O' The Dog back in 1995, different
area charities have received generous donations thanks to
the help of our sponsors and attendees.
To
date, almost $100,000 has been distributed to organizations
such as the Green Tree School, Sunshine Foundation, Bethesda
Project, World Trade Center Relief Fund, Project H.O.M.E.,
Habitat for Humanity, the National Constitution Center,
the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Foundation, and the Friends
of Memorial Hall Fund, Inc.
 The
designated charity for 2006 is CORA
Services. Established in 1971 as a non-profit,
community-based social services and youth development agency,
CORA - which stands for Counseling Or Referral Assistance
- provides a broad range of support and services to over
30,000 children and families in crisis or in need of extra
support each year. CORA's programs include Individual, Group
and Family Counseling, Educational & Remedial Services,
Referral Assistance, Community Drug and Alcohol Prevention
Education and Treatment programs. CORA also operates a licensed
Preschool and Child Care program.
Rooted
in a tradition of care and compassion, CORA maintains a
strong focus on prevention and early intervention. CORA's
service approach is active, caring, pragmatic and enabling
and brings new perspectives, direction and empowerment to
the children and families they serve.
CORA
is building a new service center to house counseling, training,
educational and early years programs, replacing our older,
outdated service building which was sold by the owners.
The new building is architecturally designed to be "user
friendly" for the benefit of young people seeking help
in crisis or educational matters in a non-threatening environment.
The new structure will be located at CORA's existing site
at 733 Susquehanna Road in Fox Chase.
